Dairy Farm Project of Browns Group:

Browns-LogoBrowns Group has sought the assistance of IRC (Pvt) Ltd. In the form of consultancy  to embark on a Dairy Farm Project in the Kurunegala District. The extent of land required for the project is 500 acres in extent with facilities conforming to the Project.   One of the clients of IRC, Tropicoir Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd. Whose core business is coir industry, possessed leased land of 500 acres with the history of a failed agricultural project.  Through negotiation,   IRC managed to make this land suitable for Browns for its Project. Tropicoir by disposing this property will be able position itself to concentrate and intensify its coir industry with the necessary working capital whilst Browns will be able to make use of this property to its massive Dairy Farm Project on which a huge investment  is contemplated.  IRC is still on this mission and would be able to make both entities successful in their respective investments.  The process is underway and will be successfully completed by April 2012. (March, 2012)

However, due to reasons beyond the control of both parties, this Project was dropped and IRC nevertheless recommended a new Project with a view to stabilizing the Battery Department of Browns Group both economically and productively by introducing high quality automobile batteries with zero maintenance to the Sri Lankan market . IRC has been able to identify a suitable Investor, the Global Reach Trading Company in the UK, which is the sole distributor and Agent for Motaquip of UK, a subsidiary of the Peugeot Company and sole distributor of Yousa automobile batteries.

Preliminary discussions and negotiations have been completed and a MOU has been signed between Global Reach Trading Co. and Browns Group. A consignment of 1600 units as a pilot project have been ordered and it will reach Brown Group in June 2013. As a restructuring exercise, IRC has embarked on developing each Department through BPR thereby enhancing the economic efficiency of each Department and to achieve total productivity in the Browns Group of Companies as a whole. Under this programme the Workshop of the Browns Group will be expanded and strengthened to meet the demand for automobile parts and other accessories and to become the market leader (Feb.2013).
